Self-Reflection: Report Cards

Over the course of this semester, Community Leadership has been a remarkable experience and very interesting. I have been able to act as an independent as well as group leader and I was able to have a variety of different opportunities. My favorite part about the class is the diversity of volunteer opportunities that are constantly offered. I also enjoy the fact the class has the ability to have discussions and cooperate with one another to sort out events efficiently.
Personally, I decided to take this course in hopes of learning on how to improve my leadership as well as to practice what I learned into events. I have been very adept with volunteer work around the community that mainly focuses on the school. I find that when others look for a leader when it comes to events that Student Council commits, I tend to take charge since I have the experience. Furthermore, I think that I have been able to improve on my own skills such as public speaking to the point that I have no troubles with it although it is still scary. Overall, I think that I have benefited greatly in this class and I hope to continue growing as a leader further.
I believe that I deserve an A (97%) for my overall performance and a G for work habits.

Made in Bangladesh

The Fifth Estate: Made in Bangladesh was one of the most shocking videos that I have ever watched. It really shows the horrendous side of the industries and the lack of awareness to consumers of the world, myself included. The tragedy that was Rana Plaza was horrific, but it was inevitable due to the circumstance that the workers were given; either work in an unsafe environment or face homelessness and starvation.
Prices for clothing were the only things that I have ever looked at whenever I shopped in any store or outlet. I never really paid attention to the location of where the product was created because I simply did not care or bothered. I never knew that people were facing near-death everyday producing clothing that I shamelessly wore. I plan to be more considerate on the clothes that I wear so that the situation in Bangladesh may possibly get better and workers can work in a safe environment and make a decent wage to support their families.
